Treatment of odors from waste water plant using two EC-4 wall mounted air fed industrial generators installed on a mixing and contact chamber.

Treatment of odors from waste water plant using two EC-4 wall mounted air fed industrial generators installed on a mixing and contact chamber.

Common odours from organic and biological sources can be eliminated by the use of Ecozone’s Professional Super ActivO and Ecozone’s Professional Panther. Typical applications are listed below.

Super ActivO™ Popular Applications

  • House and building restoration after fire to remove smoke odour
  • Restoration after water damage to remove molds and odours
  • Nursing home to remove odours and sanitize resident rooms
  • Pastry industry against molds
  • Sandwich industry against bacteria
  • Carpet cleaning services to remove odours and sanitize
  • Restaurant kitchens to remove odours and sanitize
  • Storage of vegetables and fruits against molds
  • Bus, train and airline compartment sanitizing
  • Hospital room sanitizing between patients
  • Food distributor against bacteria, yeasts and molds

Professional Panther Popular Applications

  • Removes smoke odour from fires
  • Removes cigarette smoke odour
  • Removes mold and fungus from flood and water damage around:
    • Humidifiers
    • Attics
    • Crawl spaces under homes
    • Basements
    • Bathrooms
    • Air ducts
    • Damp ceilings and walls
    • Wet carpets and windows
    • Mold caused by condensation from steam and poor ventilation in bathrooms and around clothes dryers or stoves when not properly vented.
  • Removes Residence Human Odours and sanitizes:
    • Hotel and motel rooms

  • Removes pet odours
  • Removes dead rodent odours

Super ActivO™ Application Note – Residual Ozone

This Super ActivO application note answers the question as to why the ‘slight smell of ozone’ may sometimes be present after the Super ActivO has completed its operation which includes ozone removal.

The ActivO Ozone Removal Process

  1. The Super ActivO uses the operator’s input ( the first button he pushes on the ActivO control panel telling the Super ActivO how large the enclosed room is that the Super ActivO is treating ) to calculate how long to draw air through the Super ActivO’s catalytic converter after the ozone generation cycle is completed. The Super ActivO draws three times the volume of air in the enclosed room through its catalytic converter.
  2. Each time the volume of air in the room is draw through the Super ActivO’s catalytic converter more than 90% of the ozone in the air is removed.
  3. Since the Super ActivO draws all the air in the room through its catalytic converter three times, the initial amount of ozone in the room is reduced to 0.1*0.1*0.1, or to about 0.1% of its initial concentration. As a result the ozone remaining in the room is less than the applicable safety standards require.
  4. For reference, the safe level of ozone is between 0.08 and 0.10 ppm:

    EPA
: environmental protection agency (EPA) national ambient air quality standard for ozone is a maximum 8 hour average concentration of 0.08 ppm.

    OSHA
: the occupational safety and health administration (OSHA) requires that workers not be exposed to an average concentration of more than 0.10 ppm for 8 hours.

    NIOSH
: the national institute of occupational safety and health (NIOSH) recommends an upper limit of 0.10ppm, not to be exceeded at any time.

The ability of the operator to smell ozone

A human being can smell ozone down to a concentration of about 0.001 ppm, or 80 to 100 times less than the minimum allowed concentration of ozone in the treated space.
Hence the Super ActivO will produce a treated volume with residual ozone concentration well within the level permitted by the standards, and yet which can sometimes still be “slightly detected” by the Super ActivO operator.
